Primary Care Mini Conference 2014

Wfd conferenceIn conjunction with World Family Doctors’ Day, FMSA will conduct a mini conference at Institut Pengurusan Kesihatan Malaysia, Jalan Bangsar. The event will be on 30-31 May 2014.

All Family Medicine Specialists, Medical officers, General Practitioners are invited to this special event.

The first World Family Doctor Day was celebrated on 19 May 2010. It has been taken up with enthusiasm around the world and has given us a chance to celebrate what we do to provide recognition to family doctors, to highlight important issues and the work we perform in supporting health care for all people in our local communities, our nations and around the world.

We have much to celebrate as governments around the world have really begun to realise the value of our specialty. In some countries there is work to do, and celebrating World Family Doctor Day will open up many opportunities to highlight the important contributions of family doctors.

In this conference, we will enhance your leadership skills, improve your holistic & palliative care. The transgender issues in primary are and Pre Pregnancy care issues also will be highlighted.

Asia Pacific WONCA Conference 2014

masturaThe Asia Pacific WONCA Conference 2014 is just around the corner, FMSA is collaborating this event with Academy of Family Physician Malaysia. We have several FMSes involve as committee members. The dateline for abstract submission is over and we have received more than 400 abstracts. I am happy to see many FMSes will be participating either in workshops, symposium and free papers/poster presentation. For the rest, it is still not too late to register as participants of the conference in order to gain new knowledge, skills as well as networking among the healthcare professionals from other countries. The registration fee is RM1000 for MOH personals and academic staffs from universities.

Primary Care Conference Organised by University Malaya

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to extend our warmest invitation to you to our Primary Care Conference which will be held on the 6-7th July 2012. This conference is organised by the Department of Primary Care Medicine, University Malaya in conjunction with our 25th Anniversary Celebration.
The Department of Primary Care Medicine has been in existence since 1987. As the first Department to offer postgraduate training in Family Medicine, we have produced many graduates in Family Medicine.
The theme of the conference is “Consolidating the foundation and preparing for the future: Celebrating 25 years of Experience”. As the theme of the Conference indicates, the scientific programme will address important topics in primary care including management of cardiovascular diseases, prevention, men’s health, mental health and patient centred care. We have invited renowned local speakers to share their knowledge with you. The highlight of the conference will be our 25th anniversary Gala Dinner celebrating our 25 years of teaching, research and service.

Health care reform is an intentional, sustained and systematic process of structural change to one or more health subsystems to improve efficiency, effectiveness, patient choices and equity. Health care all over the world is continuously reforming with time. Health care reform has become an increasingly important agenda for policy change in both developed and developing countries including Malaysia. This paper provides an overview of the Malaysian health care system, its achievements, and issues and challenges leading to ongoing reform towards a more efficient and equitable health care system that possess a better quality of life for the population.

This workshop provides a hands-on experience on identifying and transforming common clinical problems and research ideas into answerable questions and feasible projects in the busy general practice. It is hoped that practical solutions can be found through simple research projects.

We would like to announce that the family medicine conference will be held this year at 23 to June 26, 2011. This conference will be held at The Royale Bintang Hotel, Seremban. The organizers welcome the participation of all medical practitioners throughout the country and from abroad.
The theme chosen this year is “Primary Care Physician “an effective gate keeper” is compatible with the current situation in Malaysia. With the increasing number of cases of dengue and H1N1, family Medicine specialists should play an important role before the patients admitted to the referral centers.

This year’s theme is Prevention in Primary Care: The Way Forward.
