ABOUT FMSA
BACKGROUND
The Family Medicine Association Malaysia was born on 17 August 2001.The idea of forming an association representing primary care physicians all over Malaysia was mooted by the senior Family Medicine Specialists (FMS) after 3 years’ inception of the Family Medicine fraternity. It took one year to finalize the foundation of the association and finally achieved the approval from the Registrar of Society (ROS) to form an official registered association representing the biggest fraternity in Malaysia.
FMSA membership transcends across the nation allowing membership of FMS practicing in government sector, private practicing FMS and FMS from the academician professional body. Since the formation, FMSA has grown stronger and mature in every way. The growth and development of the association has been contributed by previous past presidents and executive councils whose leadership and visionary ideas generated strength and unity among the members regardless of its background and diverse beliefs

OBJECTIVES
- To promote and maintain the honour and integrity of the profession of Family Medicine Specialist in every one of its segments and help to sustain professional standards and medical ethics
- To serve as the vehicle of the integrated voice of the whole profession and all or each of its own special problems and in relation to educating and directing public opinion on the problems pertaining to family health and the community at large
- To promote, facilitate and participate in the conduct of family medicine research and education, as may be appropriate
- To promote social, cultural, charitable and spiritual activities in building a caring society and a united Malaysian nation
